Spring Training
The boys of summer made their Spring Training home in Arizona for more than a few decades before we gained our first team, with the Detroit Tigers being the first team to conduct a Spring Training camp all the way back in 1929. It took another couple of decades (almost!) before the Cactus League was invented and Spring Training games became the official way to celebrate a beautiful day in March, and if your journey brings you here during the third month of the year, chances are you will want to spend much of it at the ballpark, eating hot dogs, drinking beer, and being entranced by the sound of bat hitting ball and ball hitting glove! For everyone who thinks Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, we at Paseo Homes invite you to check out this important spring ritual and see if you don’t change your mind. This guide to Spring Training in Phoenix may have you wishing the calendar pages would flip just a little faster!
First of All, the Weather Is Divine
In colder climates, spring weather can be a bit bipolar, swinging from sunny and pleasant to cold blizzards and back again in just one day, but in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, the worst you have to look forward to are a couple of days that might be warmer than normal. Spring temps range from 73 to 79 in the daytime, with the occasional mid-80s thrown in for good measure, ensuring that when you are sitting out by the ballfield (we offer 10 different stadiums) with that cold beer in hand and the sun shining down on your well sun-screened skin, well, life just doesn’t get any better—unless you catch a foul ball, of course!
Offering Homes Near All the Stadiums
The Valley of the Sun is large, but we at Paseo Homes try to offer homes near the hottest spots in the region, and that includes areas near the 10 different stadiums your favorite players will call home during the spring. The best part of this time of year, for true baseball fans, is the knowledge that they may be able to watch their favorite teams playing in more intimate surroundings, perhaps more easily obtaining autographs from their favorite teams. Our homes located by the stadiums will provide comfort, style, and the all-important air-conditioning that will be most appreciated during the hotter springs, as will the crystal-clear swimming pools that will refresh and recharge!
Who Plays and Where
This guide to the stadiums and the teams that play at those stadiums during spring training will make it easier for visitors to choose which Paseo Homes sanctuary they want to make their own.
Surprise Stadium, 15960 Bullard Avenue in Surprise
The Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers make their home at the Surprise Stadium, and although we don’t offer homes in Surprise at this time, our Scottsdale escapes are close enough you won’t have much of a commute at all!
Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N 83rd Avenue in Peoria
Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres play here, and our Phoenix homes may be the closest ones, offering the perfect spots to relax in after a day in the sun at the stadium.
Camelback Ranch-Glendale, 10710 W Camelback Road in Phoenix
Home to the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox, it will be easy to find the Paseo Homes dream vacation home near this wonderful stadium.
American Family Fields of Phoenix, 3805 N 53rd Avenue in Phoenix
This Phoenix based stadium is home to just one Spring Training team, the Milwaukee Brewers!
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, 7555 N Pima Road in Scottsdale
Surprisingly, the Arizona Diamondbacks make Salt River Fields their homebase during Spring Training, rather than sticking close to home at Chase Field! The Colorado Rockies are also based from here.
Scottsdale Stadium, 7408 E Osborn Road in Scottsdale
Another stadium only serving one team, the San Francisco Giants play here every spring.
Hohokam Stadium, 1235 N Center Street in Mesa
Venturing into the East Valley—and yes, we offer properties in Mesa as well—the Oakland A’s play at Hohokam Stadium.
Tempe Diablo Stadium, 2200 W Alameda Drive in Tempe
Normally home to the ASU Sun Devils throughout regular season, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim provide a fascinating contrast to the Devils that normally play here!
Sloan Park, 2330 W Rio De Salado Parkway in Mesa
We saved this last park for last, knowing that quite often the eyes of the world are focused in the direction of Sloan Park, especially as it is a smaller more compact version of the Chicago Cubs regular season stadium, Wrigley Field. Yes, the Chicago Cubs become Arizona locals during this magical month of March, and you will be enchanted by the attention to detail that was paid to this recreation of Wrigley Field.
