Rock Climbing in Phoenix and Scottsdale
Named for its resemblance to a camel lying in repose, even if you are just planning to hike to the top, you will still feel as if you are rock climbing. Railings bolted into the rocks help your climb go a little easier, but you will still feel the burn as you climb one of two trails, Echo Canyon and Cholla. Both trails can push your limits, but when you are standing at the top, enjoying panoramic views of our beautiful desert home, we can assure you that the extra effort will have been worth it.
Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale
For too long of a period of time, development almost caused the valley to lose one of its most popular climbing spots, as Pinnacle Peak closed in 1994, finally reopening eight long years later. Access to the Lower East Wall is closed, but there are plenty of other routes you can take to the top, offering fun gear and bolt climbing opportunities on the granite that Pinnacle Peak is made of.
South Mountain Bouldering in Phoenix
If you’re curious about which mountain is South Mountain, just look for the peak with a plethora of antennas, planted there by local radio and television stations. Offering a high elevation and a central location, this mountain is the perfect spot for transmitting signals throughout Phoenix. It is also a popular rock climbing spot, offering a great spot for bouldering and top rope climbing.
Black Rock Bouldering Gym, 10436 N 32nd Street in Phoenix
