When the need to walk on the wild side takes over during your fun times in Phoenix, we at Paseo Homes suggest that a trip to the Phoenix Zoo may be in order. Offering both a refuge for the animals that live within and a peaceful escape for travelers who may have spent far too much time in the cramped confines of an airplane recently, the zoo may end up being the activity your kids talk about most upon your return to real life. Today, we are going to take a quiet walk around its 125 acres, taking a peek at the wonders that lie beyond the gates that surround this zoo, before of course returning you home to explore more wonders in your Paseo Home retreat.
Located at 455 N Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, Open Daily 9 AM Through 4 PM
Established in 1962, the Phoenix Zoo stands as a vibrant testament to both conservation and education in Arizona. Spanning 125 acres, this captivating destination houses over 3,000 animals representing diverse species from across the globe. As a pioneer in wildlife conservation, the zoo plays a crucial role in safeguarding endangered animals and promoting awareness about their plight. Visitors of all ages can explore immersive exhibits like the African Savanna, the Tropics Trail, and the Arizona Trail, each offering a glimpse into different ecosystems and the creatures that inhabit them. Through its engaging programs, interactive experiences, and commitment to sustainable practices, the Phoenix Zoo continues to foster a deep appreciation for wildlife while inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards.
A Safe Haven
Providing a safe haven to its wild denizens, the habitats that each animal calls home will provide the space they require and the feel of their own home country. The Phoenix Zoo is proud of its success in conserving and protecting creatures that hail from all corners of the earth and even if your children don’t appreciate the larger message, we can assure you they will happily embrace the adventure they are about to experience. Maps are available at the front, giving parents the opportunity to discuss with their children whether they would like to just meander through each area or maybe head directly to where the lions may be roaring, the orangutans may be swinging, or the cute and seemingly cuddly otters may be frolicking in their watery surrounds. There are nearly 400 species represented in the 3000 animals we care for and four different trails, Africa, Arizona, Tropical, and Children’s, that will lead you to their habitats.
Animal Encounters
For an added dose of thrilling, the animal encounters offered by the Phoenix Zoo allow your children to enjoy an up close and personal glimpse of a variety of different animals. The Animal Presentations and Keeper Chats take place at set times on specific days of the week and explain the ways they provide enrichment and stimulation to each of their residents. Stingray Bay allows visitors to pet and feed the soft and graceful rays that live there and the camel rides offered here will be the adventure your children will never stop talking about. Scooter Pals, oversized stuffed animals on wheels, will give tired kids a fun break when the walking gets to be too much and if you are here during the holidays, Zoo Lights opens the zoo at night, bringing magic and whimsy to the holiday.
No Wild Animals Here
While zoos are fun to explore, you wouldn’t want to live there and coming home to Paseo Homes after a day of walking on the wild side will give you your own safe haven. Reserve your favorite escape today!
