When you put an ocean in the middle of the desert, it can take a lot of cutting edge technology to do it smoothly, and the minds behind OdySea did not fall short of expectations. Starting with its rotating aquarium experience, known as Voyager, guests sit comfortably in theater seats while exploring Open Ocean, Sea Turtle Reef, Sea Lion Sound, and although we personally don’t have any favorite exhibits, our children are quite fond of the Shark Waters exhibit. The sea life swimming happily in their habitats never fail to fascinate as members of the OdySea Aquarium Care Team share their passion and knowledge with the audience seated on the dry side of the 46-foot-tall windows of the revolving exhibits. The Aqua Lobby features a variety of hanging 1000 pound globe aquariums, giving a Christmas feel to the room, and the Kids’ Cove offers Virtual Reality Pods that take occupants on a life like adventure that allows the kids to swim with humpback whales, float through deep space, and ride a coaster down the world’s tallest skyscraper!
Cute, Cuddly, and Touchable
There’s something about the creatures that live in the Otter Banks exhibit that make you want to take them in your arms and bring them home, and although you won’t get close enough to do that in that exhibit, the touch exhibits will allow visitors to get up close and personal with a variety of sea life, including stingrays and sturgeon, with the sturgeon exhibit being the only one of its kind in the world.
