The desert constantly surprises, challenging people’s perceptions of the arid landscape they had only read about before their trip to the Valley of the Sun, and the realization that Arizona offers a wine culture that is giving some serious competition to Napa may surprise even more. And even though our wineries are located in the northern part of our state, there are quite a few wine tasting rooms in Phoenix and Scottsdale, giving visitors a taste of the grape they will forever crave. We at Paseo Homes AZ have created this guide to wine tasting in the desert, revealing the magic of the wine that will taste even better when you bring it home to enjoy in our beautiful sanctuaries!
Wine Tasting in Phoenix and Scottsdale
Of course, we need to start this wine tour with a peek at the Scottsdale Wine Trail. There are seven wineries along this trail, each offering a tasteful selection of wines from Arizona wineries. The map to paradise can be found here, and although you don’t need it, purchasing a passport for $5 will give “travelers” $2 off a wine tasting at each location, which all happen to be within walking distance of each other. But what if you fall in love with a bottle from one of the wineries? Will you have to fly out to Arizona every time you need to sip? Many of the wineries offer online shops, so no, you can just scroll your way to sweet success!

GenuWine Arizona, 888 N 1st Avenue #101 in Phoenix
GenuWine Arizona is not on the Scottsdale Wine Trail, but we recommend that all of our wine drinking guests stop by this wonderful spot at least once during their stay. They offer a self-serve wine (from a very cool contraption), Build Your Own Cheeseboards and small plates, and a wine store. Spend an evening sampling all the grapes and then take your favorite bottle home to Paseo Homes AZ and sip without needing a designated driver.
Desert Rock Winery & Distillery, 7302 E Helm Drive Suite 1002 in Scottsdale
This Scottsdale winery isn’t on the wine trail, either, and the wines are California wines, not Arizona ones, but because not everyone is a wine drinker, this winery & distillery is sure to appeal to the spirit drinker in your family. Costing $18 for a tasting of four wines or spirits, Desert Rock is an adventure you will remember long after you return to real life.
